SAINT PAUL, MN/OTTAWA, ON, March 19, 2025 – Veterinarians Without Borders North America (VWB) is excited to announce the winners of its Animals and Ales Pet Photo Contest, which ran for two weeks, ending on March 17, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. ET. This “paw-dorable” online photo contest encouraged pet owners from across North America, (19+ in Canada and 21+ in the U.S.), to submit their favourite pet photos for a chance to be featured on the label of a limited-release beer at one of 48 breweries; 29 in Canada and 19 in the U.S. Contest winners have been determined based on the number of votes they acquired. Over $170,000 was raised for VWB’s programs, which provide access to veterinary care for animals and communities in need.

A full breakdown of contest winners, and runners-up at all 48 breweries, can be viewed here. More information about Animals & Ales Canada can be found here; more information about Animals & Ales U.S. can be found here.

“We are incredibly grateful to every entrant, their human families, and everyone who cast a vote,” said Charmaine Brett, Executive Director of VWB. “A special thank you also goes to the 29 incredible breweries across Canada, and 19 outstanding breweries across the U.S., for their generous partnership in creating these special brews. Thanks to their support, we’re able to fund life-changing programs that help animals and communities in need around the world.,” said Brett.

Funds raised through VWB’s Animals and Ales contest will go towards helping companion and farm animals, along with pet owners and farmers, including in Canada and the U.S. as well as globally. Through VWB’s teams of volunteers and partners, we offer otherwise inaccessible veterinary services, along with capacity-building agricultural training.

Contest winners and spokespeople from Veterinarians Without Borders are available for interviews.

About Veterinarians Without Borders North America

Using a One Health approach, Veterinarians Without Borders (VWB) works for, and with, communities in need to foster the health of animals, people and the environments that sustain us. VWB works in Africa and Asia to improve the living conditions of the most disadvantaged rural populations through veterinary and agricultural services, sustainable animal production, training, value chain development and sustainable natural resource management. Additionally, we support remote Northern Canadian communities to improve animal health through temporary spay and neuter clinics, reduce the spread of rabies, and work to create the conditions for long-term, community-led sustainable animal health services.
